My boyfriend and I are considering relocating to Rhode Island and plan to visit Providence soon. What areas of the city have fun bars, resturants, nightlife. Are there any golf courses around the area? We are in our 20s so what are fun areas with young people, but not too young (18 year old freshmen)?

Check out Federal Hill (Atwells Ave.) - lots of great restaurants up there!! Very easy to park and walk to see what is there.
Providence Place is a nice mall if you want to do some shopping. The Brown University area is a nice place to check out as well. |

You might also try Foxpoint for cafes/restaurants and bars.

There's a public golf course right in Providence called Triggs. Though public, my husband tells me it's good and pretty much open all year round. I know they have a web page.
Definately go to the Atwell's Avenue area for dinner. And if you have the time and a car, go and see Newport. |

Hi, Im 23 and have lived in RI my entire life. Ive pretty much been everywhere in Providence so I can tell you a few good places.
Definitely check out Thayer St. on the eastside. Lots of restaurants/bars (bistros) for late night like KartaBar (my favorite), ViVa, Paragon, Andreas, Liquid Lounge. Theres also Starbucks, Tealuxe, Antonios has AWESOME pizza, and a few shops. Also Wickenden St. which is near Thayer has some nice late night spots and coffee shops. This is all in College Hill so you get a lot of young people in their twenties. Federal Hill is good for fine dining.. Pastiche is a nice dessert/coffee shop. Providence Place mall is huge and also has a few good restaurants and also Dave n Busters. Downtown there are a ton of nice restaurants.. many that turn into a nightclub or a social spot to get a drink like McFaddens, RiRa, 10 Steak and Sushi, Olives, XO Cafe, Parkside, Fish Co., Moda, Tazza etc. Theres ice skating in the center of Providence and Waterfire which usually starts around May. As far as golfing theres a place in South Attleboro, one at Goddard Park which is in East Greenwich/North Kingstown, a driving range in Smithfield and I know theres mini golf in Cranston so there might be a range there too. Newport is beautiful and definitely a place to see. You can spend an entire weekend there going to the shops, restaurants, mansions, cliffwalk, etc. Hope you have fun ![]() |

Depending when you come, you may want to take a day trip to Newport or to Narragansett if you like beach communities with outside bars etc.

You won't be able to sit outside anywhere in RI until probably beginning of April. I doubt if any outside cafes are even open. Check the weather reports; it's in the single digit temps up there. Brrrrrrrrrrr.
