Default Does anyone know anything about a place called The Plant in Providence

I am an artist currently living in Sydney Australia looking at moving back to the states...originally from NYC but after living abroad dont think I could do the city again. Someone mentioned a warehouse conversion called 'The Plant' as an option. The website looks good but I know nothing about the neighbourhood. Anyone know anything? Would really appreciate any guidance!

Not too sure bout the Plant, but I know Hope Artiste Mills is a brand new artist loft mill building conversion right over the Providence line in Pawtucket.

I happened to drive by there the other day. Eddy Street has not been considered a good area for about 100 years- maybe never???- it's a depressed, formerly strictly industrial, area. Although the old complex conversion may be good, I definitely would not recommend the surrounding neighborhood if you value your peace of mind.

Lots of developers are reusing old industrial sites now in RI. Some are in much better neighborhoods than others- did you search any in Pawtucket, RI? Pawtucket is old and blue collar but not as bad as Eddy St. I believe it has the artist's tax deductions offered by RI.
Also downtown Providence (the "jewelry district") has converted lofts which might be better as well. Maybe something in Cumberland or Warwick??

Actually, the Plant is about 2 miles from Eddy Street on Valley Street. The area's on the upswing, you should check it out.

One of my favorite restaurants is there, The Cuban Revolution. Brighter than its other location down city. Easy in and out. The Plant is in the Olneyville area where United Way just moved from the East Side. Rising Sun, another renovated mill site, is but a few hundred yards away. Olneyville will always be gritty and drugs and prostitutes are there. But with the recent improvements police patrol the area more. More people are walking the streets, but gentrification is a long way down the road. An easy walk to buses and Palmieri's Bakery.
