*****Should I Move to RI or MA????*****
Ok here is my problem, I have to relocate for work, I've lived in CT my whole life. The job is either in Walpole MA or Milford MA. Now if i take the Milford job i can live in RI, which everyone tells me is cheaper then Mass. My questions are:
1.)Is this at all true?
2.)Are property taxes cheaper in RI, do they pay Car taxes ?
3.)Do you have to pay some sort of penalty for living in RI but working outta state, or do i have to pay taxes twice?
4.)What areas would be nice to live in and around Woonsocket?
5.)What are rents like as far as price?
6.)Is there any Walgreens in RI, ( my GF works there, and wants to relocate too)?
Any help or advice anyone can give will be greatly appreciated.

I would strongly suggest against moving to RI, but who knows...you may like it since you are from CT.

Anywhere you live in the north is pretty expensive, but for me I love the water; harbors, rivers, lakes & beaches - so tranquil, and your 10 minutes away from any of them, anywhere you live in RI. I'm so happy here! Spending money on all that other stuff is a part of life, but to have these beautiful amenities - for free - to me personally, makes up for it all. I have left for the beach some days between 3-5pm or later, and by the time I left the beach, I felt like I spent the whole day there, because no long distance driving, so it doesn't even take a whole day -sooo cool I guess it depends on whats important to you...being near water does it for me.

No, property taxes are not cheaper generally speaking in RI.. unless you are down South County way.
We pay stupid car taxes in RI....mine last year were $488 for a 5 year old Mercury Sable. I'm in PVD.
Rents around the Woonsocket area would be cheaper than MA, but....it's Woonsocket. You have to watch the neighborhoods. Some are very nice..and others.. welll.. not very nice.. and the rents reflect this.
Yes, plenty of Walgreens.
I've worked in MA and lived in RI. You get credit for MA taxes paid on your RI return. You just have to fill out two state tax forms. No biggie.
As a renter, you will pay higher incomes taxes in RI than MA.
Gas is cheaper in MA.
Live as close to work as possible.

I work in Mass and live in RI, it's no big deal at all for taxes. You can deduct rent in Mass, can't in RI. Mass gas tax and sales taxes are cheaper. I've heard car insurance is generally cheaper in Mass, but when I got a Mass quote last month it was actually more than I pay in RI, so go figure. Plenty of Walgreens in both states.

Why oh WHY?
"harbors, rivers, lakes & beaches - so tranquil, and your 10 minutes away from any of them, anywhere you live in RI."
You are NOT 10 minutes away from the ocean anywhere in RI. Lakes maybe., But that is true in CT and Mass as well.
I am trying desperately to leave RI to get to CT. I think you are crazy to leave CT.
RI is not a friendly place to live. Be prepared.

sorry to tell u the bad news about Ri // Ri has the HIGEST taxes the coruption has driven it into the ground.
Rummor has it that when it goes down , that Ma will take one half and Conn will take the other half.
The truth of it is neither state want any of the mess Ri has created for it self.
Ma, is having it"s share of a cash flow; BUT is geared more for it"s citizens ( a comonwealth state) and not trying to find ways to squeese the blood out of it"s citizens, looking to find new ways to apply more new taxes .
