Talking Are Rhode Islanders still hilarious?

I went to college in Newport in the 80s (grew up in Connecticut). Well, I quickly came to think that Rhode Islanders were the funniest people (on the whole) in the country.

Their sarcasm was the most "advanced" I'd encountered. The humor was brash, often said with a smile even if at my expense. Since moving away, when I meet Rhode Islanders, it usually reinforces my "theory."

I find it to be a very good thing, loosening folks up quickly. Ball-bustin' at it's best.

Anyone agree?

We're not only hilarious but we have to be scrappy too. Otherwise, we'll be run over by the barbarians at the gates.

Default Funny RI?

I think that maybe we Rhode Islanders are just funny per capita...When you stand shoulder to shoulder you get a little snarky...

But seriously folks.... we may be shoulder to shoulder in the urban areas but fortunately we are still about 50% open space..... though there are relentless forces of development at work. Many out of staters do not realize that RI has any open space!!

I updated our company calendar this morning with this entry "jon - ri"
(as I will be visiting ri this week.)

A colleage in Quebec IM'ed me this:

Dxxxxx, Maryse [8:36 AM]:
Jon, if I translate "Events - jon - ri" it means "Events -jon- laughed" ...

Bxxxxx, Jon A [8:37 AM]:
so "ri" means laugh?

Dxxxxx, Maryse [8:37 AM]:
yes ri is the past of laugh

Bxxxxx, Jon A [8:38 AM]:
thats pretty funny - now I have to change it to "cf" for central falls...

Dxxxxx, Maryse [8:41 AM]:
You can let it like this... At each time that I see this, I smile !!!

Bxxxxx, Jon A [8:43 AM]:
I think it will make me laugh each time I see it now too...

i find myself to be a humorous, life of the party type, but since moving to tampa last year, it does me no justice here. im losing my mojo because people here are simple minded, and don't appreciate my jokes and whatever.
