Maybe it's gotten worse?

Are you serious? I work right off Thayer, and there are a TON of homeless people there. There are at least three "regulars" who are on the streets begging, with one of them who just pees on the sidewalk when he wants to (he's in a wheelchair).

Add to this the "musicians" who are at every street-corner with the hats out and it makes for an uncomfortable walk in to work and back.

And don't get me wrong, I've given money to some of the people there, and believe me I know that times are tough... I just don't like being made to feel bad if I don't have any cash with me when they ask for something.

Homeless people in Thayer St/East Side are you kidding me. I have been to Thayer St and the East Side plenty of time and I wouldn't say there are a "TON" of homeless people, I wouldn't even consider them homeless. I would say there are some panhandlers on Thayer St. but pandhandlers are in every urban area. And plus there is always providence police on Thayer including campus security in the area I don't see how anyone can be scared to walk the East Side. Don't feel bad for not giving panhandlers money, its your money, you worked hard for it, screw them.
