Default are any of these sketchy neighborhoods?

I'm traveling to Providence and looking at where to book a hotel. Are any of these sketchy neighborhoods?

Warwick/West Warwick/Cranston
Downtown Providence

For the most part Rhode Island hotels are not in neighborhoods. Downtown Providence's hotels are within retail and business areas. A small amount of residential can be included. The only possible problem with these sites is the downtown noise at night. There is a nightlife here. but that affects only a few hotels. The other city's hotels either serve the airport or the business/tourist traveler and are located near the interstates.

What city will you be visiting? That could depend on where you would want to stay. Downtown Providence is not good for parking and some of the hotels may charge to park.

Depends on your budget- safety will not be a real issue with any RI hotel.

Downtown is much nicer but much fancier & more expensive. There will also be a choice of restaurants to walk to. Cranston-Warwick- W Warwick are just suburban chain hotels located off the freeways like any other state.

One good alternative when visiting Prov is the Johnson & Wales Inn in Seekonk, Ma. It is very nice, safe, reasonable rates, and about 10 min into Prov. There are also motels at reasonable rates in Seekonk.

As stated by others I wouldn't call these areas "sketchy" and parking (you'll pay for it in Providence) is the only difference. If you stay in Warwick be aware that these hotels are prime targets for smash and grabs, they are right off 95 so don't leave valuables (gps units, laptops,etc..) in plain sight when you park your car.
