MT Girl wants to move to RI (Providence, Pawtucket: lofts, job market)

Hi! I am a girl in my mid-twenties that is looking into moving to Providence. I have lived in Montana for a lot of my life and would really like to move to the East Coast. I would really like to know about what life is like there especially the art/theatre scene? Also what people do for fun and what the dating scene is like? I have been reading other posts and I realize that the job market is tough, but I am not planning to move for awhile so maybe things will be looking up by then!! Any info is appreciated.

Providence and Montana are two different worlds within the same nation. I give you courage and insight to want to live in New England.

The arts scne in Providence is very good- but also great in Hartford and New Haven CT-

The economy is not strong here- but better then many other areas of the nation currently.

Providence has PPAC , the VMA and Trinity Repertory for theatres, PPAC and the VMA get more national acts while Trinity is its own company that does its own shows, and does them very well. There is a dynamic arts scene thanks to RISD (RI School of Design) being located here. There's lot's of artist lofts and live-work spaces for artists as well. Dating is dating I guess, there is a lot of nightlife around if that's your thing. What you'll probably like the best is the ocean, being from Montana.

I addition to these are many local groups and the Gamn Theater, my favorite, in nearby Pawtucket. Brown University has many groups including Rites and Reasons which creats their own plays for and about minorities. Rhode Ilsand College has their own acting group and produces many plays throughout the school year.
