PS just to bring this back to RI. Why can't RI get one of these new fangled auto manufacturing plants? What do states to the West and South of use have or do that we aren't doing? It all comes back to taxation, regulation and corruption - the only three things that this state produces in abundance.

I noticed on my new Mazda 6 that the engine comes from Mexico, the transmission from Japan, many other components come from Brazil.... it would be more correct to say it's assembled in the U.S....which is fine as far as that goes.
Hard to know what's really made here.... Taipei is a U.S. possession which just happens to have slave labor sweat shops with shirts that proudly say...."Made in USA".

How do you know they are illegal just by looking at them?

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, there's a pretty good chance it's a duck. Duh.
If you live in a liberal-leaning state, and you're a liberal-leaning state, you are SOL. That's where the illegals are headed. More conservative states are enacting legislation to rid themselves of these leeches, to the benefit of legal, tax-paying American citizens. You will see more and more illegals headed for the Northeast. Good riddance; you can have them. Glad you like diversity so much. Now YOU can pay for it.

You are correct. Iit's difficult to discern where certain components are made for the final assembly. The corporate world has whole teams who specialize in nohting more than mass confusion. Its an concerted effort to thwart foolish trade treaty and the IRS. It adds a whole layer of accountants, lawyers, and government trade specialists to a business and adds to the cost of every product you purchase (lawyers don't come cheap). It would be so much better if we exited from these treaties and rid ourselves of the corporate tax that inhibits business from staying here in the US. While were at it.... how about the IRS?

Please keep the discussion on topic and relating to RI, or the thread will be moved to the Politics forum. Thanks

To all of you that did not like or agree with my post about illegals in Providence, I couldn't care less. I call a spade a spade, but that is a whole different disscusion.

Last time I checked border states like Texas and Arizona were allowing many illegals into our borders to filter to the states. And those states are far from "liberal-leaning." The solution is to stop the illegals from getting in in the first place.

I think Providence is a huge hotbed for illegals. I saw a show with Jim Taracani that indicated that there was a sort of underground railroad for illegals here, particularly from Guatamala.

I would consider Providence
I have never been to providence. Crime in providence is down. One of my pen pals said he's been to providence and thought the people there were very nice and helpful. I would like to leave the city I live in and would consider Providence.

Silly, there are illegals everywhere and will always will be, of all shapes and colors. RI doesn't have a problem though, too few jobs for that. I wonder how many Italians & Portuguese came here legally over the last 100 years.
What is a problem is lack of education in the general (legal) public. RI's rates of higher education have always been lower than other states in the Northeast, and it shows in our government & taxpayers. Do something about it or stop complaining.
