Coast Guard getting assigned to Warwick...need info please.
Hi,
We currently live in Jersey but will most likely transfer to Warwick next summer. If anyone can give us info on some of the nice smaller towns to live in nearby, we'd really appreciate it.
Thanks so much!

Most of Warwick is a pretty decent place to live.
East Greenwich is really nice, however it can be a touch expensive.
Coventry is a nice area, but the school system is over crowded and property taxes are a bit high.
Scituate is a nice town.

If you want rural, look west of Warwick to the CT border. If you want smaller, more "New Englandy" towns, try anywhere south of Warwick. Since the state is small, you'll only be looking at a 20 min commute either way.
Warwick itself is a sprawling suburban community made up of neighborhoods, some of which you might like- just don't locate too near the airport or strip shopping malls areas. So before deciding to live farther away- you might look into Warwick Neck, Gov. Francis Farms, and Pawtuxet Village, Cowesett- all villages in Warwick.

You may also want to go North...
Some great suggestions above. You may want to try some NOrthern RI towns. Good schools. Good communities with decent services. Try Lincoln or Cumberland.
With both of these towns, you're on 295--easy access to Warwick. Not to mention close proximity to Boston.

If you like the small New England village scene, consider either Pawtuxet or Wickford. Both are close to Warwick (in fact, Pawtuxet is on the Warwick/Cranston line) and both are on the water.
I didnt realize the Coast Guard had a facility in Warwick... learn something new every day.

Will you be at the lighthouse on Warwick Neck?

Thanks so much! You've all been extremely helpful. I grew up in CT and spent lots of time on RI's shore but never stayed there. We won't be at the lighthouse but it would be one of my husbands areas to oversee. The facility he is looking at is the Civil Engineering Unit there. I think it's on Metro Center Blvd. Thanks again!
