My son was married at Whispering Pines - on the Alton Jones Campus of URI. It is a gorgeous setting - out in a pine forest next to Eisenhower Lake. It's in West Greenwich off of Rt 95, exit 5B. They were married outside overlooking the lake. The reception was held in their main lodge - with cocktails out on the deck. We actually rented the entire place for the whole weekend - they have various lodges for housing for out of town guests. If your guests rent all of their rooms, somewhere around 30 rms, you don't have to pay the facility fee of 5K and pay only for food/drink. Out of town guests and wedding party all stayed here, local guests came from home. They provide a big bonfire nightly, where guests can lounge around, chat, have drinks. Then they provide a lovely brunch on Sunday before your guests depart. They have a widely varied menu to select from and the food was excellent!Everyone thought it was a phenomenal wedding. Our weekend went something like this:
Fri night - Rehearsal dinner on the deck (we had a lobster bake!)
Sat - guests could go canoeing, fish, play tennis. They got a light box lunch.
Sat 5pm - wedding outside - so beautiful!
reception followed. Great food/dancing out on the deck.
11pm - bonfire (everyone changed into comfy clothes, had drinks, ate
s'mores. Younger guests congregated in cabins, playing foozball, pool etc
Sun am - lovely brunch - all left around 12 noon.
All in all, an incredible weekend!
