Hey RI, I'm not from another planet, it's you guyz who are weird as heck.
Okay, first off. NEW SMILIES! Way cool, dudes!
I just wrote this for another post and wanted to share it with you Swamp Yankees:
***There have been times I've hated RI and the crude, bleak, unsophisticated, and cloistered outlook of the great majority of it's residents. But I think now I've come to appreciate some of the good things New England has to offer. Beautiful nature and surroundings, not too crowded, better and more cultural events, less traffic problems...***
True or not true? What's your take?
One thing I just can't hack about RI:
No one exercises outdoors here! WTF??! On the rare occasions you see a cyclist or jogger, they look like they are just trying it for the first time in months and won't be trying it again anytime soon either !! To me, that is just so weird. The "car culture" lifestyle is too prevalent here. Time to get off your seat and move around a little bit, people of RI !

You seem to bring up this point evey few months, and sure enough, here I am refuting it again. Between April and October I see joggers bicyclists almost every day - and I live in Cranston.
Pair that with the fact that Rhode Island is one of the healthiest states in the Nation, and your point seems pretty obsolete.

The east side of Providence where I live looks like an endless jogging and bicycling track- so much so it looks like a giant outdoor gym.
Pohdcrzy Where do you live where no one goes outside???

I moved away from RI 5 months ago but prior to moving, my husband and I regularly walked the bike path in Cranston, biked the East Bay bike path from Riverside to Bristol as well as biked all over South County. All of these were always full of walkers, runners and biking enthusiasts. In my old neighborhood runners and walkers were always out in full force.

YESSS!!!!! You have just sold me on RI!!! No cyclists??!!!??!?!!? You have really made my day. I live in Roswell, GA near the Chattahoochee River and the one thing I cannot stand are the hundreds of cyclists on a daily basis, on a SMALL 2 lane road duing rush hour. Here- all of the back roads are not safe from rush hour. I have considering hitting a few before...
I do exercise quite a bit though - so I am not a corn pickin' hog eatin' southerner surpassing 350 lbs! I just do it inside...where there is A/C

Big shout out tonight from Mom's basement (yeah, it's true...)
Big kudos, my CD-Peeps !
Look at this I just found, proof in the pudding, as they say:
League of American Bicyclists * Bicycle Friendly Community Campaign
Rhode Island
State Rank: 27 out of 50.
Reasons for Ranking: Rhode Island has a signed and mapped route network, but also has a discriminatory mandatory bike lane law and no League-certified Bike Ed classes.
Rhode Island's Bicycle Friendly Communities
Currently there are no cities in Rhode Island that have been designated as bicycle friendly communities. Your city can be the first. To apply for BFC designation, review the materials at www.bicyclefriendlycommunity.org/apply.cfm.
