North Kingstown Corruption Issues? (house prices, school district, taxes)

hi,

i was researching areas in RI, preferably near Quonset area or newport. north kingstown seems like a very nice place but I did find some news stories about corruption issues there. especially with the schools superintendent haley. i dont want my taxes to be abused or my kids to be in schools which have problems.

but in most ways, crime, house prices, and so on, it seems the ideal location to consider, along with, secondarily, narragansett but the houses are much higher there on realtor.com.

any info appreciated...

Halley is no longer superintendant- call the school dept to find out who is.

JerryKY, this might sound trollish, but where are you living now? Are you familiar with RI at all?

You definitely wanna have a clue about this place before you move here. There's nice stuff about RI, but it is a very odd, weird place...a little closed-in world unto itself.

I don't really know the details concerning the NK school supt- but you can find RI school district ratings on the internet. NK should have highly rated schools - as public schools go. Good public schools are harder and harder to find. I would certainly not let Halley's dismissal keep you from moving to NK- it is a very nice area.
