Anyone involved in the Construction Industry?
Hello,
My wife and I are looking into possibly relocating to Massachusetts in the near future from Orlando Florida.
I was wondering if anyone works in or is familiar with the Construction Industry in Rhode Island close to the Massachusetts border.
I am Currently a Construction Manager for a large home builder and have experience in single family, multi family, residential and commercial construction.
How is the Industry doing currently and what is the outlook for the future? Also how difficult is it to secure employment as a Construction Manager and what range of compensation should I expect?
I posted the same question on the Massachusetts board and the feedback was that the building industry is in a slump there, so I was looking into other options in the surrounding states.
Thank you in advance for all your help

The housing market in Rhode Island and nto Mass. is increasingly depressed. Housing is not where you want to be there. There are few, if any, large tracts to be developed because of population density. If so, they would be extremely pricey and not attractive for investment.
You may have better luck considering western MA, NH, ME and VT, where there is undeveloped land, still pricey, but some near the Berkshires etc. The northeast as a whole is undergoing a market adjustment.
Commercial and industrial construction, however, is always fairly constant in the northeast; and there are some major commercial and industrial contractors in the Boston and western MA areas.

Hey Matt,
Do you have experience using software as a construction manager, for example, document management, developer, costing, project managemetn, construction estimating, or general construction software?
