I realize I am opening myself up to the "why don't you leave if you don't like it here" comments but...
I've lived here since 1986 and the rudeness/impatience etc. has pretty much remained the same. This is simply my personal experience as well as the experience of others who have been here both longer and not as long.
I express my personal experience/opinion and it is suggested that I have no empathy for the unemployed. This is exactly what I was just speaking to!
I can totally accept that you and other people have no problems with the behavior of people in Rhode Island. Why can't you accept that myself and other people have a different experience? No one is "right" this is just my experience here.
I travel and have lived in other places and have had a much different experience.

Sorry you're so defensive. I don't live in RI and - frankly - however you feel about it is no skin off my back. I left a long time ago and didn't look back. As a teenage girl might say in this situation ... what-evah!
Clearly, you're a little raw, so maybe it is time to leave (but, then, I'm opening myself to your well-crafted circular argument, aren't I?). Again, you must believe me, I couldn't care less either way. Whatever floats your boat. BTW: I'm ever-so-glad you're well traveled - congratulations!
In your zeal to make RI out to be the worst state in the union, you sure tell a lot of porkies. Stimulus Spending, Breakdown by States - The Wall Street Journal Online
Holly...Who's talking about stimulus spending?
I swear "tonight" your driving me to drink!
...the issue with RI that stands out far and away (and always has) is educational level. And, that's confirmed by the Census Bureau. RI has far less educational achievement than either of its neighboring states
Of course, that's a bit like telling the Bronze winner he didn't do a good job because look at those gold and silvers over there.
MA and CT are two of the most educated states in the country. Are we on par with them? Heck no. But we are doing better than most of the South and some other parts of the country.
I'm not saying we should lower our expectations, but I notice we constantly get compared to our immediate neighbors and get an inferiority complex because of it.

And your point would be? It is THE single most entrenched problem with RI, and it's the reason it continues to get nowhere fast in the 21st century. Keep it up and I may have to actually agree with Rhudy, LOL!
