My brother just moved there about a year ago and I had to convince it was safe. He was hesitant at first but now he's glad he made the move.

I lived in Cranston for over 20 years, just left in April 2008. I totally agree with just how safe Cranston is. We never had a problem whatsoever and we lived pretty close to the ACI. In my former neighborhood, there was one break-in the entire 20 years we were there, and the thief ended up being a neighbor!

Just out of curiousity, why did you have to convince him it was safe? What part of Cranston is he in?
Thanks,
Evan

I lived there for 5 years and couldn't agree more, Cranston is VERY safe. I live in Warwick now and it's essentially the same, most "crime" is petty in nature (smash and grabs, shoplifting at the retail establishments) and there really aren't any "high crime" areas in either city. I think these two cities are kind of unique in a sense that despite their populations (80,000 and 85,000 respectively) they lack any real downtown or "urban" core and instead are comprised of a series of rather quaint villages. Can't say enough about the quality of the local law enforcement in Warwick and Cranston.
