I tried Via Via and, sorry, that is not pizza......well, not gourmet pizza for sure!

That is overly greasy and undercooked something or another...plenty of calories, but so little taste.

Yeah, I'm a pizza snob admittedly.....I don't go for the grease, more for top notch ingredients.

What do you think of Al Forno's pizza in Providence?

I used to live in Newport and I was going to suggest A-1 also. It is probably one of the oldest pizza places in Newport. Don't expect a fancy atmosphere though. It is best for take out. The only wood grilled pizza I've had was at Daves Grill ( I think it is called). It is at the end of Brick Market place across America's Cup Blvd from the Marriott and the Newport Harbor Inn and has a partial view of the harbor. The atmosphere is nice. If you sit at the bar you can watch your pizza cook in the wood oven. You can get fancier flavors like chicken barbecue and what-have-you there.

Was in Newport last weekend, stopped in at Via Via - wasn't bad. There's been better, but I've had far worse.
