Default Rhode Island Drawings

A while back, I asked for suggestions of significant places in Rhode Island to draw for the Scholastic's portfolio competition. You all helped so much! I want to show you the final product(s). I didn't win anything, unfortunately.

The pictures don't do them justice because I have a crappy camera, but I hope you can still make them out.

Click each piece to see a larger version!

Providence:

(Skyline in background. Waterfire, Statehouse, and Point Judith in middle) <- Point Judith is there because, before I decided to create a series of drawings for the portfolio competiton, this was a school project. The assignment was to create a Panel Drawing.. and I decided to do a panel of RHODE ISLAND scenes. When I decided to enter the competiton and continue the series, I made the decision to make each panel represent a town.

Johnston:

Featuring the Police Station, Highschool, Town Hall, Irons House, and Memorial Park.

Smithfield:

Featuring the Smithfield Town Hall, Smith Appleby House, Esmond Park, Smithfield Commons, and Greenville Church.

Newport/Jamestown:

Featuring the Newport Wharf, Breakers Mansion, Pell Bridge, Beavertail lighthouse, and a windmill in Jamestown.

Lincoln:

Featuring a Mill in Albion, Railroad Track in Albion, Kirkbrae Country Club, RI State Police Lincoln Barracks, and Twin River.

Warwick:

Featuring a Watertower in Appanague (Sp?) which i think they are going to tear down soon, Oakland Beach (with iggy's LOL), the Old Rocky Point Entry (*tear*), and TF Greene Airport.

Cranston:

Featuring Sprage Mansion, the old Oaklawn Railroad Bridge, Garden City, Edgewood Yacht Club, and the ACI.

Narragansett:

Featuring the Tower Arch, Sand hill cove, Narragansett Sign at the Rotary, Firsherman's Memorial, and Salty Brine at Galilee as a boat is coming in.

Hope you enjoy!

You did a wonderful job, Daniel. You should have won something, but lots of people will be able to see them on this forum, so thanks for posting them here.

Daniel, what a fabulous job you did! You are truly talented. Only one comment - the beach in Warwick is Oakland, the bridge in Cranston Oaklawn. Thanks for posting your work!

I fixed it. For some reason, I like the Cranston drawings the best. What does everybody else like?

Daniel, they are great!!!! I miss the areas you have so gracfully illustrated. I'm coming back in August and bringing my In-Laws. They have never been to the east coast and I wanted them to get a good taste of New England, Thanks for the memories.

Thanks so much for the compliments Labrat! To me, that's what doing these drawings was all about. I'm so glad I was able to remind you of this beautiful state through art.

Thanks so much for making this a sticky. I assume Casey did that, but thank you to whoever did!
