Default Recreation on the Eastside

I'm considering moving to Providence, and I was wondering what kind of (outdoor) recreation is available ON THE EASTSIDE. I did a search online and found that there are some beautiful parks in the vicinity, but I'm curious what is in the immediate area?

Other related questions:
-Is the Eastside of Providence a bike-friendly place?
-Are there any nice parks for recreation on the Eastside?
-What gyms are available, and are they affordable (I know there's a JCC near Brown Stadium- any reviews on that gym? Prices?)
-In general does the Eastside have an outdoorsy, active feel? ie, If I'm running in that neighborhood am I going to feel like the only one doing so?

Thank you all in advance for your help!

Blackstone Boulevard is a beautiful street with lovely houses and a steady stream of bikers and joggers.

A lot of people bike and run on the East Side. There are several commercial gyms besides the JCC. You can also easily get on the East Bay Bike path which runs 17 mi. to Bristol. Just walking up and down College Hill will be plenty of exercise....

Hands down one the best trainer out there works at the JCC. She has a masters in advance level coaching. Her name is Paula. She is the Jullian Michaels of Rhode Island!
