Default Stephen Laffey Not Running for Governor!? Is RI now doomed?

I have been very impressed with the present governor Donald Carcieri's and his ability to take on "business as usual" dealing with state employee unions, et al. I thought the only successor that could possibly continue with such progress would be Steve Laffey, former mayor of Cranston, who managed to balance the city budget, take on the city unions with their robust pay and benefits. Now that he has announced that he will not run, the state could be in big trouble.

Jenkins86 is on a distinguished road
I have not been impressed with the govenor, but do like his attempts to right the ship. Laffey seemed the only chance at real change. It seems even he is giving up on this state's ability to change. That is kind of scary.
