My girlfriends daughter, her boyfriend, and their infant are thinking of looking at a place in So.Providence because it's cheap. I say,"bad idea".
What do you say?
I've known many people who live there who would give anything to get out....sounds like your girlfriend's daughter has a choice.....learn from others or learn the hard way....
It really isnt bad at all it just has a bad reputation. Rent is cheap and you're still minutes from downtown, the east side, access to i95 and i195. Theyre not going to have problems if they just stay to themselves.
I would avoid South Providence. I know their are good people there but it is overall a rough area....both upper and lower south providence. Warick or Cranston would be a better choice.
A lot of these apartments on the southside are advertised for rent over and over again probably because people move out. The advertisers refer to the area in other ways such as the 'Armory District' even when the property is no where near there.
I would avoid South P if you can. There are many great people there, but it is not the safest neighborhood. There is a lot of gang activity, and it is quite busy. Drivers there are also crazy.

Most likely not a great idea.....try Cranston or Warick just outside of South Providence.

It may be cheap, but it's cheap for a reason. This is NOT the type of area you want to raise a child in. There are plenty of affordable apartments in Cranston or Warwick. Look anywhere else in RI, but not South Prov.
