They are the best, but they are located in North Kingstown.

Across from Allies 'Tack and Feed', in case you got a couple horses out back. I particularly like their raised donut with frosting and jimmiies.

My favorite is warm glazed - or jelly, or

Whatever's warm is like heaven.

They are on Rte 2 (Quaker Lane) - if you go on a Sunday morning, expect a line - out the door -- but it moves fast.

Hi danehycr.
I am kind in the same position you were last year. Trying to decide where to move in RI (Barrington, EG or East side of Providence). We are a couple in the early 30s, with a 2yo. Can I ask you what is your opinion now after a year. Specially the active community for stay at home moms part. Has it been easy for you to connect with other moms? Thank you, I really appreciate your help.

Well I can tell you, my husband and I have been in Barrington for almost 2 years now and as a stay at home mom with a 3 month old I LOVE IT HERE. The business owners are very helpful and super sweet. I've never caught an attitude from anyone at town hall (who are also very helpful). It's great having the bike path so close to everywhere in the town. Since the beach is residents only, there is no traffic. Plus since it's the bay and not open ocean, there's no waves so it's great for kids. We live in the Hampton Meadows/Sowams area so it's easy access to 114/Rt 6 without having to go through "town" which gets busy during peak times. I've noticed that people on the East Bay (Barrington & Bristol in particular) are much nicer and courteous than those on the West Bay. It's not something
I can explain, you just have to experience it. Colt State park is prettier and less crowded at peak times than Goddard Park. Although as a golfer, I find the courses on this side aren't as nice as south county (I'm particular to Jamestown). I've met several great people here along with a fantastic home daycare that is word of mouth only. The biggest complaint I have living over here is having to drive to Smithfield to get to the closest Dave's Market (LOVE THEM).

With respect to the politeness comment, I'm not saying I agree (East Bay versus West Bay) ... but, I would imagine that - in general - greater wealth and less garbage suburban sprawl would make me feel better about my situation. And, that that would be infectious.

I have to completely disagree about Goddard Park versus Colt State Park. In my view, Goddard Park is much larger and more beautiful (but, it's all about personal taste, really).

FWIW: As someone who once worked for a Dave's (I'm not saying where), I can't imagine driving up the street to go to one. Wouldn't this be a much better option than driving to Smithfield: Eastside Market, Providence, Rhode Island -- Traditional and Whole Foods Alternatives?

I'm a HUGE fan of Eastside Market. If I want a nice cut of meat or if it's a special occasion, I go there exclusively. If I want meats to throw in the freezer for stock then I drive to Dave's since they have better quality than Shaws or Stop and Shop. I'm not that crazy about Whole Foods but I will go there occasionally when I'm in Providence. It just seems there aren't any options of a decent sized market on the East Bay besides Shaws/Stop & Shop and it's disappointing since a good quality one would do so well.

Take my word for it, DONT. This state is a ****hole. ****hole is the most common denominator in this little state of misery. Living in Barrington or East Greenwich doesn't make living here any better. Barrington is the quieter of the two but the only thing that will happen is you'll become very resentful of alot of people here. You seem like you're a very good person and it sounds like your husband is too, but if you move here and in any of THOSE towns, your morals will go out the window and you will wind up turning into a condescending snot bag, like every single person who was ever born and raised in east greenwich or any rich town area. don't sell your soul.
