Get something like Frontline for the dog and he should be fine. Just be careful yourself. I spend a lot of time outside and have done so since I was a kid. I have also lived in New England my whole life. Ticks are a reality, but it's not difficult to avoid them. I can count the number of times I've had a tick on me on one hand. It's more likely that our dog got them because he rolled around and stuff, but proper care and attention isn't difficult.

Living in the country doing yard work and stuff in Jamestown, that one had count for me is about every two years- not that they were attached. Had plenty of bites over the years though, but never got the rash. Two summers ago our cat would have ticks crawling on him every time he came in, sometimes two or three -it was weird, last summer was not so bad. Frontline didn't really do it anymore.

I lived on Chappi for a few long summers with two labs and a fish gut puking cat. We has daily people and dog tick checks. Back to the routine.
