Smile Rhode Island Job Market?!!?

Hello everyone. I have been looking for work in RI (or Mass) for several months now. I live in NY, but want to move to RI (Providence) so badly! I am realizing that the jobs (Graphic Design) are not exactly plentiful. I have applied for a few positions that I am quite qualified for, but am getting no responses! It's very frustrating.

Any advice or guidance anyone can provide would be much appreciated! THANKS!

-Longing for RI

I don't know if you realize, but right now the worst job market in the northeast is in RI. It is the only state in the region to have a double-digit official UE rate (around 13%).

It is a nice area, I had an interview there last spring that would've involved relocating (I'm also from NY), but it didn't come to pass. I'm not sure what part of the state you're from in NY, but I would think that graphic design jobs would be more plentiful in the NY City area.

Since you mention Massachusetts, this article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33312701...n_the_economy/ seems to suggest that parts of Massachusetts are "recovering" if that helps any.

thanks for the link. yeah, i have a good friend from newport, and a friend who just moved to providence, and they have said the same thing about jobs. i've already done nyc and i'm not interested in moving there again. i don't have the energy for nyc anymore. i've been living in buffalo for the last 7-8 years and i like a mid-size city. and i've always LOVED RI...
