I can't honestly say I have any good feelings about it except the airport is there. Its a handy alternative to the Boston airport.

I never lived in Warwick, but for some reason have been hit by crime there twice in the few times I have been there. Times I was not using the airport that is.

Car broken into at Showcase Cinemas. Nothing taken because nothing was in there to take. Other cars also hit.

The worst and to this day I tell people to follow their instincts after my experience at the Golds Gym in Warwick.

I was visiting and paid that gym a day pass fee to workout there. I almost immediately got a strange feeling something was wrong. I went in the locker room and felt I should take my wallet, but I didn't have any pockets in my gym shorts so I hid it deep in my gym bag. There was one employee who appeared to be emptying trash and two other people in there. I felt uncomfortable for some reason. I went out worked out and about 30 minutes later I was still so uncomforatable or suspicious something was wrong, that I went back into the locker room. I just felt like people were watching me the short time I was in this gym. My lock had been popped my wallet emptied for what they wanted and put back into my gym bag.

I went out to the desk and the employee said, People should use better locks and then lock them. I felt it was actually the staff and or a set up of people that probably have been doing this at a number of gyms. I mean something felt very wrong with this gym. I immediately called Bank of America the credit card had already been used for several hundred dollars. It was stupid of me to have put my wallet in that locker and I have never done so again anywhere.

The warwick police told me there was alot of crime anywhere in that Bald HIll area or Mall area that goes all the way to that Showcase Cinema. I said I have found this out, and have never been there again. Crime can hit anywhere but after my experience in the few times I have been to Warwick, Who could blame me. I just don't have a very good feel for that place. Good luck in Warwick just make sure you know where your going and be very familiar with your surroundings.

Like about Warwick- parts of it are on the Bay, close to Providence, convenient location, relativly inexpensive housing.

Somewhat dislike- Lots of aging commercial strips, which are what they are, and many are small, locally owned businesses, which is good, and better than the Supersized, large scale big box commercial areas that I've seen mainly in Massachusetts; Springfield and Chicopee areas for example. A good example of this would be the CVS in Saunderstown on Route 1A; WAY too big for that area. Commercial development can be ok, but not at that scale.

All I know is I've been to Showcase Cinema many many times and never experienced anything even resembling "crime" unless you count people talking on their cell phones during the movie.

I'm sorry to hear about your extremely bad luck of experiencing crime twice in the relatively benign city that is Warwick, RI.

Likes: the airport

Dislikes: pretty much everything else. I don't even shop on Bald Hill Rd unless absolutely necessary. I'll go to Seekonk, N. Attleboro, Lincoln, or Smithfield before I'll go there.

Seriously, what's so especially bad about Bald Hill Rd?? (Besides the traffic!)

It's just another generic suburban sprawl of name brand stores and restaurant chains. Now I totally understand if that's not you're thing, but it's Anywheresville, USA. There's hardly anything distinctively negative about it in my view.

I just find this all very odd.

It's strip mall hell at its worst. I've never been through there except later at night and not been stuck in traffic. The design of the strip malls is ridiculous in many cases.

North Attleboro, which is still generic suburban sprawl seems to be better designed. You can at least get between many of the strip malls without getting on Rt 1 there. That's not the case in Warwick.

My choice usually goes Smithfield Crossing or Lincoln Mall, North Attleboro, Seekonk, Warwick.

OK, it is a strip mall area. But have you been to Florida? If not, you don't know the meaning of the term "strip mall hell". Bald Hill Rd. is nothing cmpared to that. And even if you hate strip malls (I'm not a huge fan), it is at least a relatively nice clean area considering the built-up suburban sprawl. Not to mention Bald Hill Rd. doesn't even go on that far before it becomes recognizable New England again.

And it certainly isn't "crime-ridden".
