Personally, I don't mind this at all since it beats the do nothing approach currently being taken. Long ago, when we needed and could absorb immigrants in a booming economy, it was not so critical that there were masses flooding in. Look at Central Falls, the whole town has sunk- now what?
There's a bit more to Roger Williams than 'freedom of religion'. There's his work with the Natives, for example. Also, don't forget this little thing called tolerance. I like to think that he was very fond of that, too. But that might be just me, who knows?
Here I go standing up for the immigrants again. While CF does have a large Latino population, this does not mean that all of them are illegal. Many of them are just as legal as you, Hollytree. Also, the children of illegals can not be blamed for their status. And to blame the demise of CF on poor minority people, when so many of the local politicians have proven themselves to be corrupt, criminal, and inept- really.
Out on Block Island last Sunday I was surprised to quite a few Hispanic day laborers, seems they might be getting some work even though the unemployment on the island was over 25% in February.

I fail to see what this has to do with illegal immigration.

So we are supposed to tolerate people who come here illegally and then make demands on us?
