Default Give me a block in Richmond to google map

Well as some of you know, I've been researching moving from Philadelphia to Richmond, but am not sure what neighborhood to go with. I got the advice to google map different blocks in different areas to get an idea of the houses there. Can you guys list a block and the neighborhood it's in so I can google it? Many thanks in advance for those who can help!

It might help to list out where in Philly you live or what type of neighborhood you want to live in, as well as what you're looking to spend. Richmond has anything from fairly dense housing/neighborhoods to suburban and rural housing/neighborhoods.

My wife and I are looking to move from Richmond to Philly next year, so I can say that if you're living in the city in Philly and you like that style housing, you should look in Richmond's Fan or Museum District. The Fan would be any of the blocks west of Belvidere, north of Cary, South of Broad and East of N. Boulevard. The museum district would be anything west of N. Boulevard, north of Cary, South of Broad and East of Thompson. All of the housing in there is great, with access to museums, restaurants, bars, etc.

West of Thompson is also very nice, but is less dense housing, making a transition to the West End's suburban-style housing (ending around Short Pump). So, if you're looking for Suburban-style housing, just look west of the city (I'm less versed in suburban housing).

Other nice less dense city options include the Northside (check-out where MacArthur meets Laburnum Ave), and the Southside (along where the park runs along the James River.

Hope this helps.

Try anywhere from the 2200 to the 2800 block of East Grace Street to get an idea for Church Hill.

My home in Chesterfield which is right down the road from Richmond.

If you need the area location .. let me know.

BTW: Long time posters here .. html doesn't seem to work on this board in trying to center or size pictures?

(Or maybe I'm too much of a nOOb!) 8)

MrClose, your house is gorgeous! I would love a house like that. You said the area you're in is called Chesterfield? Are most of the houses like this? How would you describe the area?

I posted these a while ago. These photos are from 2006-2008 I think... Hopefully they help give you an idea of how different parts of the city feel.

Also, more artistic than you probably had in mind, but here's an album I came across of the Bellevue neighborhood in Richmond.

I am partial, (of course) to my better half's and my home but yes, there are 'very nice' homes like ours in this neighborhood.

(prices are right too!)

Chesterfield is known for it's better schools and we live within walking distance of one of the best Grade Schools. (Jacobs)

We have lived here for ten years and as far as I know .. No one has ever complained of 'any' crime what-so-ever.

I believe that this is one of the nicest and most convenient neighborhoods that you could ever want to move into, 'especially' where convenience of 'access' to anywhere in central Virginia is important.

We live within two minutes of SR288 which runs through central Virginia and connects directly to I-95.

Let me know if you would like any further information.
