What is the neighborhood of Salisbury like? And Lake Salisbury? Is it a walkable place?... trails?... main street downtown? Would be looking in the upper 400's-lower 500's. Are there fees? And if so... is there a club house or community pool?

Thank you!

There are sidewalks in Salisbury, but not walking trails. Not really anything to walk to except maybe Lucky's and a few offices and churches. Annual dues are $100 and do not include lake membership.
No community pool or clubhouse unless you join the country club. Nomination for membership requires sponsorship from two current members and adherence to a comprehensive admissions policy.

What do the dues pay for? Is there anything but sidewalks that people like about living there?

Where are the sidewalks in Salisbury? I live in a neighborhood right next to Salisbury and I can't recall ever seeing any except maybe right around the shops where Lucky's is. It is however, for the most part, very walkable. I walk my dog several miles through Salisbury every day.

Lake Salisbury costs $200.00 per year to join and is open just to residents.

The "main street" part of this part of Midlothian would be Sycamore Square - not attached to Salisbury but close. Grocery store and small shops and a few restaurants. Not a place you would walk to however.

Salisbury is a really pretty subdivision - biggest draws IMO would be schools - Weaver/Midlo/Midlo is a highly desirable school set. Also the fact that most if not all the lots are an acre or larger so you get more privacy than you typically find now.

Their website has past newsletters and more information on the neighborhood. www.salisburyhomeowners.net

What are my dues used for?
annual dues helps your Homeowners’ Association (SHOA) to enhance the entrances, create and distribute the ‘Courier’ (newsletter), hold community events such as the summer concert series, make improvements to the neighborhood such as stop sign replacements, and finally to establish a reserve fund for future maintenance and development possibilities.
Additionally, the association is responsible for maintenance of common areas, which include grass cutting and trash pickup along both Winterfield and Salisbury Roads. These improvements and maintenance tasks are being funded by Homeowners Dues.

Thanks! How about the lake? It looks like a public beach on the google maps? Is that what membership covers for the lake? Is boating allowed? Swimming? Kayaking?

Lake Salisbury is the larger lake in Salisbury, that one has a fishing dock, picnic area, swimming area with life guards etc. You can use kayaks and canoes, I don't believe you can use motor boats but I'm not positive about that. That one is $200.00 for the year. There is also Lake Patrick Henry which has a small beach area and a raft and that is it. You also have to pay to join that one but I don't know the cost for sure, I thought I heard $100.00.

eta: http://www.salisburyhomeowners.net/photogallery.htm There are pictures in here of the beach area.

Where are the sidewalks? I grew up there and have never seen a sidewalk with the exception of the country club and the area around Lucky's.

Salisbury is a large - somewhat older subdivision characterized by larger lots than you normally have. For all practical prurposes, other than the country club, it is a totally residential area. I too have not seen sidewalks
