Wasn't this thread started by someone from Raleigh?

It's actually called the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce....

And it's apparent that Richmond clearly isn't for you. Not every city is a good fit for everyone. Hopefully your venting here has been therapeutic.

Default In what ways is Richmond better than Raleigh?

I have lived in Raleigh for the past 13 years and I can honestly say that Richmond BLOWS Raleigh away. I think I may seriously consider relocating to Richmond. Far more beautiful and far more things to do in Richmond than in Raleigh.
Where in Raleigh are you from? We are looking to move to the Cary area or Richmond and are really having trouble deciding. Any info you could give about the schools, housing, weather, sports for kids (soccer & track for a 12 year old girl) and men's softball leagues. Any input you have would be great.
Thanks,

It has been, and there is a solution to all of Virginia's problems and RIC. Get those old farts out of office, and change that mid-evil philosophy of the city and counties not getting along..........how arcaic can a place be? RIC loves it's history and it clearly shows! I feel better already!!!

Virginia's independent city system and annexation prohibition do probably negatively affect its cities. It's a stupid legal barrier which provides little incentive for localities to work together on a regional level.

Default From Pittsburgh to Richmond?

We visited Virginia and the Ashland area and have thoughts about moving to Richmond or the surrounding area. Housing appears high unless you are in a more undesireable part of town with poor schools. Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

It depends on what you consider to be high housing prices. Compared to northern VA, Richmond houseing prices are cheap.

You're a smart guy, maybe you should run for office here. Lay some knowledge down on these people and wake them up! Richmond could become a desirable place to live, its just the *******s in charge don't seem to give a damn about it's policies or it's people.(Battery Park...just to name a few)
