Default Private schools in city of Richmond

My family and I will be moving from New Orleans to Richmond in '09 and, after our first visit last week, decided that we would rather live in the city than out in the suburbs. I wanted to look in areas like Midlothian and Chesterfield because I've read schools are much better than those in the city, but what can I say, we're just city people! (I must say we were very surprised to see the similarities between Richmond and New Orleans. Hopefully, that will make for an easy transition!)

Thankfully we can afford a private school. Some of the neighborhoods that we liked in Richmond were Carillon, Monument Avenue Park, Westhampton and Westover Hills. Are there any good private schools near these areas? what are their reputations?

Any names are appreciated!

Richmond and New Orleans both have large in tact historic districts (though New Orleans is certainly larger and has more French influence). Richmond has very good private schools, but since some aren't k-12, it may depend on how old your kids are...

To name a few:
St. Catherine's
St. Christopher's
Benedict School
Benedictine High School
St. Gertrude's High School
Trinity Episcopal
Collegiate

Good luck!

NOLA, richmondpics gave you a pretty good list of private schools. There are many in the area. two more are St. Mary's and also Steward School. Also a middle school for boys, I believe the name is Seven Hills. Interesting concept. I had a friend that his son went there.

You have picked some really nice neighborhoods. I used to live in Westover Hills. bought my first home there back in '91. We loved it!! I would also look at Northside, like around Seminary for those types of homes.

good luck and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I don't live in Richmond anymore (I am in Va. Beach), but my heart is still there.
