Oh, you are forgetting about the exit tolls to avoid the tolls.Again, this place SUCKS!!! Don't tell me to leave, because I already am. Those people from Wachovia were smart...getting the hell out of here. There is a reason the population of richmond declines every year. Just look outside......

I have.....it is Charlotte NC! Beautiful place, can't wait to get back. Enjoy your over taxed, welfare driven commonwealth. What are there, 3 commonwealths in the US. There is a reason for that..........Have fun!

Charlotte? Are you serious? That place has no soul. No character and no charm.
I wouldn't trade Richmond for Charlotte for anything !

Lots of snow? No. But we do get occassional deeper snows that happen oh every 15 years or so.
The winters are generally just 2 months here- January and February. After that you're in the clear. I have never seen snow here in March- it would be rare if happens.
When it does snow here, though- things kinda- shut down. Richmonders don't like driving in snow. Everyone will rush to the market. My friends from up north find that hilarious. I don't think it is. I hate driving in snow as well.
If you like the ocean and mountains- yer in luck. You're less than 2 hours from both.
Some pics:

We are relocating to Richmond from NE FL at the end of August. We fell in love with the city. We had considered a possible job transfer to CLT last year, but quite frankly, didn't like the prospect of living in the area. CLT has some pretty towns around it (Matthews, Concord) but everyehere we went, we sat in traffic (and I mean everywhere). Both CLT and RIC have their run down areas from what I've seen, but so do all places.
As far a crime, well everyone NOT from Jacksonville will tell you how bad the crime is here, but I've never experienced it, as most of the homocides are either drug or domestic related.
We are very excited about our move, and can't wait for the end of August.
One thing we are extremely disappointed about is no Publix Supermarkets.
Anyone in the know, is Ukrops anything like Publix?
