Default Thoughts on living on the northside: 23227

My husband works on the Mechanicsville/Glen Allen line. We could live really close to his office saving gas money.

Our priorities aren't schools -- we homeschool. But my husband grew up in a neighborhood next to a very tough neighborhood and doesn't want to repeat the experience.

We also love old growth trees, homes w/ character etc. (But I won't snub my nose at a new kitchen so new homes are being considered too.)

Our first, second, and last priority is mainly safety. Is the northside a safe place to settle down and raise kids?

Thanks for your help,

Alley

DH grew up and spent much of his adult life in Northside - nice neighborhoods- schools can be dicey but you don't need that now - but you might as the kids get older and needs change. All those neighborhoods around Bryan Park - Bellevue, McArthur, Seminary - nice homes, fun places to eat etc. We liked it over there - we moved to Chesterfield for schools. Safety was not a concern - no more than any close in area to a city.

Love living in Bellevue. Friendly neighbors, lots of character, mature trees, strong sense of community, easy easy interstate access, etc. Schools would be a consideration for middle and high school.
