I am thinking of possibly transfering to a facility located on Bellevue Avenue, Richmond 23227. I would like to know if the area is safe and about either an apartment or house to rent in proximity to this location or maybe 10-20mins drive distance away. Also would need info on College for 2 daughters. Any info. on prices re: rents, electricity, water, basic food etc. would be appreciated. Also how far is the nearest airport to be able to fly to Maryland/Baltimore and Newark NJ. Thank you in advance.

I worked in 23227 for 2 years and though not "dangerous", I wouldn't say it is "safe" either. I worked on Brook Rd and Azalea which isn't that great of an area. I worked at the Brook Run shopping center and when you hear people call it "Crook Run", you know it isn't the best. Also, when it snowed hard couple years ago and my car got stuck in the middle of the parking lot, I asked a Henrico officer for advice as to how long I should leave the car and the conversation went like this....

Officer: "What do you drive?"
Me: "Chrysler 300"
Officer: *The Oh my look*, "Yeah, I would come back and get it today. You know this area, I probably wouldn't leave it out here too long"

So with that said, I wouldn't live in this area code. Bellevue, if I am not mistaken, has an "older/senior" community. So there are a mix of people in this area code, but it isn't the greatest. You have better choices in the area.

As for apartment or housing, you have Glen Allen nearby, Staples Mill area nearby and if you want to push your max commute, you can move to Midlothian area (My commute took me 15-20 minutes) in Chesterfield County and for safety, it's one of the best in the area with great schools.

The rent nearby on Staples Mill and the 23228 area code will range from 650ish (1 BR) to 800 for a couple bedrooms, just depends on the area really.

Colleges range from ECPI, Strayer, ITT to John Tyler CC, J Sargeant Reynolds CC, VCU, U of R, VUU, VSU. Not sure what route your daughters are looking to take as far as community college then transfer or go to 4 year from the start. I went to John Tyler CC then VCU. If you live around the Glen Allen, 23227, 23228 area you will want them to go to J Sargeant Reynolds (proximity, it's right off Parham Rd and there's a downtown campus). VCU is a simple 15-20 minute commute from any area I mentioned above because of the close proximity to I95, I64, 76.

Richmond International Airport is roughly 30 minutes from Midlothian. From 23228 area, I'd say 20ish? It's located in East Henrico and you can fly wherever you want to. Other than that, Dulles International is 2 hours away in DC (which is my family's other choice to fly out of because RIC is private and can be bit more expensive than Dulles).
