thanks everyone for the input! Sounds like we will have a handful of choices for neighbourhoods to choose from.

Regarding this Hampton Park, sounds like a great neighbourhood!! How is the diversity there??

What high school and middle school does it feed into? Is Hampton Park more full of younger elementary age kids or a mix of all aged kids? My kids will be entering 5th and 6th grade.

thanks again for the information. Makes me feel much better about having to move to an unknown area.

Diversity @ HP: if you're talking race, at a guess it's probably about 80% white and the rest mostly Asian or African-American. If you mean socioeconomically - it's mostly all middle/uppermiddle class. Mostly (but certainly not exclusively) professionals. My impression is that a majority of the homes have a stay at home and/or work at home parent - but certainly not all. The people who live here are from all over, so in that way it is very diverse. It attracts people who are social and want to be friends with their neighbors. If you want privacy and quiet seclusion, this place is not for you.

Schools: middle school is Swift Creek. High School is the new Cosby High school that just opened this year. It is right across Hull St (360) from us.

I would say the kids are mostly elementary and pre-elementary with the middle school kids running a close second. I have younger kids, though, and mostly know people with kids around the same age, so maybe that's only my impression. There are also plenty of high school kids.
