job in Ashland
Hi,
My husband is considering a job in Ashland. I will want to get my Va teaching credentials if he takes the job. We are not home owners yet but dream of this. We are coming from the inflated California market.
Are there nice communities around Ashland where a couple can buy a home on an acre or two for under 200K? I have a child in middle school ~how are the school systems.
We are looking to get out of this California trap . . Any advice would be most appreciated!

Schools are strong in Hanover. I'm not familiar with the homes out there though so perhaps someone else can help you there.

Ashland is great!
I have lived in Ashland most of my life,it is great! Move there,it is a railroad town/college town(Randolph Macon). It is very close to Richmond,VA. There are some of the best schools in Hanover Co. Very low crime here also. I think It would really be good for you guys, especially your child to move here.It is a small town but there is lots to do and very close to the city(15-20 minutes). There are lots of things in town also.Let me know if you are interested and I will try to find out specific details,ok.There are many subdivisions and nice neighborhoods with homes for sale or rent. They are not expensive either, especially compared to Ca.

If you haven't made the move yet, it'll be a good one. Hanover Co. has some of the best schools in the region. Low crime, no traffic, and you'll be 15 min from the city. Can't beat it.

My husband and I just moved to VA from San Diego with our 2 young children. We are currently staying with family in Fredericksburg, but would like to live closer to Richmond as my husband works there. We would love to know more about Ashland, motherlove!
