Default Charlottesville and Midlothian toddler area

We are visiting Virginia from Arizona the first week of December to see if we want to relocate. We will be specifically looking at Charlottesville and the Midlothian/Chesterfield area. I am a mom of 2 toddlers and I want to spend some time at locations where other moms "hang out" to get a feel for the people and the daily life. Can you give suggestions of places that families take their kids to get out of the house? Especially during the winter time.

Not being a parent myself I don't know many areas. However, I do know there are many parents that take their kids to Chesterfield Town Center Mall. I believe they still have a moms/kid morning event in the food court at least they used to. In Midlothian there are several parks with great playgrounds and a children's museum in downtown Richmond next to the science museum.

Charlottesville: Fashion Square Mall right outside JC Penneys is the toddler play area. Have a meal at Cville Coffee on a weekday, there's a play area and moms will often meet there. Go to the Discovery Museum on the Downtown Mall.

We just moved up from Florida in September with a toddler.
Lots to do in Midlothian and in Richmond.

What sealed the deal for us was Maymont, and the Children's Farm.
they are always having events there, especially during the holidays.
Welcome to the Maymont Foundation - Explore Richmond's 100-acre Adventure!
