Question What about Richmond

I've never been to Richmond but I'll move to VCU soon. How about this city in terms of safety, climate, life expense and recreation? I appreciate your inputs.

The fan area of richmond is where VCU is. It's an artsy area and VCU is busting at the seams - a lot of growth going on. I think its a pretty fun city for young people. The fan is dense with beautiful, old architecture that people generally take good care of. It used to be a lot shabbier but had lots of potential and now it seems the potential is really coming up...
Safety I think like any city can be a problem but mostly if you aren't careful. Keep doors locked- car and home.
Climate is really pretty nice- not too bad short winters. Beautiful falls and springs, but if you don't like heat, humidity the summers might bother you. It does get hot.
I think there is lots to do, lots of museums, Maymont Park is about my favorite place there. Carytown is the cool area with lots of really fun, creative stores and restaurants.
What will you be majoring in?

My brother still lives in Richmond since the 70s. I went to VCU in 1973-74 and it was very cozy and plenty of fun people and things to do. The Fan is really nice place to live, but I don't know the prices. When I was there I lived on Grove St., nice little street, and on Park Ave., very nice. My rent was $160 on Grove at that time and not much more on Park!!!! Well I guess I'm pretty dated here....
