Smile moving to the Richmond area

Hi there, my husband has gotten a new job in Richmond, VA, so we are relocating, I am trying to find the most rural, country town to live in within 40 miles of Richmond, my husband and I are not city people at all, we love the country and wanted to know if there was a town that anyone would reccomend. Thank you

Default moving to Richmond

it is actually kind of hard to say, because he is doing contracting work, so he will be working all over the town of Richmond, if that makes sense. Thanks for your reply.

here is a link to a Google Map
richmond, va - Google Maps

I would look to the northwest along Rt 33 out towards Louisa and Mineral

Or you could look to the southwest towards Powhatan

But be aware that here in Virginia what may look like a town on the map may be nothing more than a crossroads with general store with gas pumps. We have what are called localities. amorphous geographic areas that vary like amoebas from year to year. some localities have more cache than others

You will absolutely love Powhatan. What are you looking for and what's your price range? I can tell you if it's doable. Powhatan is a large county. If you need to be 40 miles to Richmond, look in eastern and central Powhatan, not western. A fairly nice home in Powhatan is $250K and you can get a high end home for high 400's. Check out this website: Welcome to Powhatan County, Virginia
