mechanisville is a nice place to live, it is growing with urban sprawl i feel was totally unplanned and traffic is getting pretty bad. with this said, it isn't as bad as other places in Richmond ie: chesterfield, and west henrico. the schools are good , the crime is low I would recommend it as the place i would move to if i were looking.

Wink Mechanicsville is nice (excluding some pockets)

Hey, I would definatly recommend Mechanicsville as a place to live in Richmond. As with basically every area there are some areas to avoid. Being from out of town a realtor may try to convince you that areas in Henrico close to the Hanover line around the 360 corridor is considered Mechanicsville but dont fall for it!! Make sure you are in Hanover County when looking at homes in "Mechanicsville" in the 23111 or 23116 zip codes ONLY! Try looking at neighborhoods such as Battlefield Green or Pebble Creek. Another neighborhood to check out is Avondale (my aunt uncle live in here and love it!!!). This neighborhood is located off studly road in the 23116 zip codes its older and established. Hope this info. helps! Ps. Avondale is in the newer Hanover High School district all those schools are top in the county. Good Luck!

smokinghot is on a distinguished road
Mechanicsville is a town and is in Hanover County, in the greater Richmond area. It is only 7 miles from downtown Richmond. I agree with what the previous person posted, but I would prefer to live out closer to the courthouse is I could live anywhere in the Mechanicsville area. There is going to be a lot of construction of the highway along 360 inside of Mechanicsville in the next few years, which will help with traffic. The area toward the courthouse is more rural and beautiful. You will find that Mechanicsville has a lot of diversity - just about any type of home or property you want.
