Default Richmond area parks and Recreation

In the Richmond area, including all the suburbs and county agencies, which park system is the best and why? Do any of them have Park Rangers?

The James River Park system in the city is consistently rated one of the best urban parks in the nation - mountain bike trails, rafting, canoeing, tubing, hiking, running, fishing, etc.

Thanks for the post and the links....I don't see anything about Park Rangers though? Would I be correct in saying that the parks are regulated by the local PD's?

I don't think the city has park rangers in its park system. I guess rangers are part of the state and federal park system. In Richmond, we have the National Civil War visitors center (federal) right on the James River at the Tredegar Iron Works site. I think the nearest state park would Pocohantas State Park south of the city about 20 miles. Both places have rangers.

Default James River Park System

This is one of the best urban parks anywhere. Miles and miles of hiking, biking, rafting and sightseeing. It's full of historic locations. Too much to tell in one comment.
