Default Richmond compared to Memphis and/or Little Rock

Hi all -- I have lived in or visited Memphis and Little Rock, and what I am reading about Richmond sounds familiar. Can anyone who also has knowledge of those two cities do a comparison for me? Particularly in terms of cost of living, schools, racial tensions, politics?

Also, are the 'burbs like Glen Allen similar to the 'burbs of those cities (e.g. Germantown, Bryant)?

Thanks in advance!

I am familiar with Memphis and I have been to Little Rock a few times. I also grew up in Richmond. Memphis has a totally different vibe than Richmond. Little Rock seems more like Richmond. I am sure that the racial climate in all 3 places is about the same. Richmond is more historic and has some great little neighborhoods. Memphis and Little Rock seem more spread out to me. Richmond city is small - the burbs surrounding Richmond are huge! Wish I could be of more help, but I have only limited experience in LR, and I lived in Mississippi for 3 years - spending time in Memphis on occasion. Memphis seems to be spread out and very large. The city has some rough areas - so does Richmond. You should visit before you think of moving there. Check out some of the posts about Richmond... many negative ones!
