Smile family-friendly hotel in West End?

Can anyone suggest a family-friendly hotel (not hugely expensive) in the West End / Henrico Cty area of Richmond? I'll be with my 3 children: 6, 9, 10 as well as my elderly parents. I'll be out for part of each day looking at houses to rent and schools. My parents will need a low-maintenance way to look after the children. They can't do a lot of walking.

I think that a hotel with family suites AND a pool would be perfect. Any suggestions as I really don't know the area at all and we're moving there this summer from the U.K.

Thank you!

Hi Stackie I have responded to some of your other posts as we are moving near U of R this summer too.

My last visit there we stayed at the Embassy Suites on Broad St. They are remodeling, but it was very nice.

We up-graded (for $30 more) to an excutive suite and had TONS of room with a large conference table.

If you all want to be in one room (suite) you could get 2 doubles and the pull-out in the suite area. I didn't look for the pool, but I believe I saw signs for one. The walking is pretty easy. We have stayed at the Sheraton on Broad and that place is too big....lots of walking.

At the embassy suites you get breakfast included and managers reception in the evening that your parents and kids could enjoy. (Open bar for G'ma and G'pa) Lots of snacks (mini hotdogs, chips, cookies, etc..) and soda, milk, etc...

There is a Fridays restaurant almost in the parking lot if they didn't want to drive.

I wasn't impressed with the outside, but inside it is beautiful and the staff were EXTREMEMLY nice!

This is about 5- 10 minutes with traffic to U of R and I think the closest hotel area. There are lots of hotels on Broad St. I don't remember them all.

I am sure others will come along with other suggestions who know Richmond way better than I, but this did work for us.

Good Luck!!

Thank you Rosette8!! Once again, you've given me really helpful information. We're going to St. Bridget's while we're in Richmond, keeping our fingers and toes crossed that they can accomodate 3 more children in September.

I think your hotel suggestion is just what we're looking for. I might meet you at St. B's in September!!

Many thanks again,

Marianne
