Hi All,
I have a job opportunity up in Richmond, Petersburg actually, and wanted to get an idea of areas to consider for buying a house as a single guy in my late 30's. In other words, schools are not important to me, bars and restaurant proximity and variety are, and obviously I want to stay out of high crime areas but still find something in the $200-300 k range.
I'm also curious what it's like culturally. Is it more like NoVA and full of liberal NE transplants ? Or more like Augusta, GA which is also solidly blue, but still the South.

I am bound by fair housing laws so can't really speak to a portion of your question but can say your budget should do well in many areas of Chesterfield County.

You should live in the City. It's more like Nova.
