Default thinking of moving back to richmond from nyc

i was born and raised in richmond, but moved to nyc after school and have been up here for 7 years. clearly richmond is a lot more laid back than new york, but that's what i'm looking for. however, i'm 29 and single and a little worried about the singles scene. i don't necessarily mean the bar scene, just are there single people around my age. thoughts?

I would say the singles scene is improving and thriving in Richmond. It really depends on your interests. If the bar scene is not your thing (and the bar scene in the Fan, downtown, Slip & Bottom is quite active), there are plenty of options.

The music scene is doing real well with the addition of Toad's Place and the National. I know of several people who have joined various social sports leagues, the outdoorsy scene is always available, etc.

When I moved back to VA, I learned that there are plenty of things to do but you have to search out a lot things. You can't sit back and expect all sorts of options to be presented to you.

If you have specific interests, post them so we can let you if you will find fellow travelers here.

Default thanks wanderva

it's not that i'm not into bar scene, i "frequent" them all the time up here in the city i guess i just thought it'd be a younger scene back in richmond. everyone i know there or that has friends there keeps telling me singles scene is awful for our age group and not to move back. so obviously that is causing hesitation on my part...

HOW can you POSSIBLY try to compare NYC to Richmond? Just a thought . . . .

Especially if you've lived in BOTH?
