Default Need Advice about Relocating to Colonial Heights area

I am strongly considering moving to The Richmond Area - or anywhere within about 25 miles of Colonial Heights- from the Detroit Area. We are looking for a family friendly area with great schools- #1 priority- and things for kids to do- such as sport activities, community parks with pools, neighborhoods where its easy for the kids to meet other kids, etc... I have two kids one going into 9th grade and one going into 5th grade. We have about a $350K budget would prefer a newer home (but flexible) and around 2500 sq ft.

What is this area like? Is it scenic like North Carolina or is more urban? It might be cool to live in a more scenic area than we currently live.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

About 25 years ago, black people were encouraged NOT to live in Colonial Heights. It was a very segregated city anc blacks were told to leave town when the sun went down. I hope is has been reformed since then.

I'd suggest taking a look at communities in Chesterfield County.
