How about Mechanicsville as a safe place for interracial family?

Default Mechanicsville - No Way!

Mechanicsville is home to rednecks still fighting the civil war. It is on the list of the last places an interracial family would be comfortable. You are more likely to feel welcome in the more educated areas of Midlothian (Chesterfield County), Glen Allen (far west end) or in the city itself. Alas, the public school system in the city is awful and full of gangs and drugs - but if you can afford private schools the city would be your best bet.

I honestly can't comment on race in Mechanicsville but I agree with the others that Glen Allen and West End of Henrico county is diverse and you will be fine there.

Hubby and I grew up in Richmond area and have lived there on and off over the years with our kids. Chesterfield, Midlothian, West End-Glen Allen would be good areas. I would definitely pass on Mechanicsville and city of Richmond.

EEK, not mechanicsville. As stated, the West End or Midlothian would be your best options

As a realtor, I honestly believe that Richmond is a welcoming community as a whole. Sure their are isolated areas but by and large communities are diverse and welcoming.
