Default Any lakes around?

Hi! My mom and dad are thinking of relocating to the area from Texas. They currently live on lakefront property in Texas and are looking for something similar up there close to the Manakin Sabot area. Are there any developed areas on a lake you can put a boat on and fish? They'd like to be within a 15-minute drive to a hospital (he has heart problems) too. It's really hard to tell just looking at a map!
Thanks!

Yes, there are lakes -- the small, man-made kind. Dover Lake comes to mind. There's also the James River, which is fairly broad and flat if you just want waterfront property. Think twice about Manakin-Sabot (or Goochland County, period), however, if you need to be 15 minutes from a hospital for critical care. It can be done and we have excellent EMT services, but that would make me nervous.

You could do Lake Chesdin in Chesterfield County, and could easily get to many hospitals. Then there is Lake Anna, but that will probably put you a bit further out to medical care, just depends where they would go. Lake Anna touches a lot of counties. Does anyone else know how far from Charlottesville if they went to the Louisa side?
