Default Safety?

I've been using Google Maps and Craigslist to get an idea of the neighborhoods. Is Northside safe?

What about West End?

Those are broad geographic areas and vary significantly by numerous attributes..... you would be best served by narrowing your focus.

I go to VCU and 2 vcu students were shot last night 2 blocks away from campus.

So is downtown safe? Not really. The suburbs are fine however

Northside is block-to-block, basically. I lived there for six years w/o incident, but had friends/neighbors with everything from cut screens to car thefts to live break-ins. West End is "safe," the farther west -- generally -- the "safer." Really, as PickPatrick says, "narrow your focus."

The city has an excellent site for crime reports *inside* the city limits. Ask about particular neighborhoods/blocks your are interested in as you refine your search.
