West End (Glen Allen, Short Pump) of Henrico County, or Midlothian in Chesterfield - great area for families and great schools

Default Why West?

We lived in Chesterfield county, both west side and east side. LOVED THE CHESTER AREA.

Great NEW schools, less traffic, great small town feel. Good networking in neighborhoods.

Hated to leave.

I think you would love the Far West End near the Short Pump Mall area- zipcodes 23060 and 23059. The schools are wonderful- all the elementary schools are stellar in this area. Like others said the Salisbury area in Midlothian is also wonderful but in this area I have noticed there is more of a family atmosphere and many subdivisions with houses of varying prices. A LOT of young families with children. I've been here 2 years and in my neighborhood there are 27 kids on two streets alone. Its very safe and the kids basically play outside everyday after school. The other thing to note about the West End is that it is very diverse and there are a lot of out of state transplants. That was a major factor for me in deciding where to live plus there is better access to shopping.

Look for the school pyramids that include Short Pump Middle School and Deep Run High School. All the elementary schools are great so you don't need to worry about that. Good luck!
