Default Richmond Weekends

I'm heading up to Richmond with my wife this weekend for some kind of festival. What else is there to do here? Where's the best shopping areas, restaurants, and nightlife locations?

Default Shopping

If you like malls I'd recommend Short Pump Town Center. It's a beautiful outdoor mall with a Macys, Dillards and a Nordstrom and some good restaurants (Cheesecake Factory, Firebirds, Maggianos, etc.).

Sounds like you're heading to the Richmond Folk Festival... it's a blast.

Another shopping area to visit is Carytown. What types of restaurants (cuisine, price, etc) are you interested in?

My wife likes Mexican and any kind of buffet, but honestly I wouldn't mind a good sports place with the big screen TVs. I'm not sure how close that Short Pump mall is to the Folk Festival.

You'd be about 20 minutes from Short Pump Town Center. You might try Champps at Stony Point Fashion Park (another very nice upscale outdoor mall) to watch sports. That's about fifteen minutes from the festival. I can't recommend a good local Mexican restaurant. Hopefully someone else will have a good recommendation.

Hometeam Grill in Uptown on Main Street or Stool Pigeon's at Dock and 15th (just a walk down the Canal Walk from the Festival) might be decent places to watch sports as well. There's also a Buffalo Wild Wings at 15th and Cary. I find Mexican tough to recommend because they are often so similar... people find that one they really prefer and they stick to it.

If you like beer, try Capital Ale House on Main between 6th and 7th... over 50 brews on tap and over 200 bottled beers to choose from.
