Default Catholic Schools in Richmond

We are moving to the suburbs of Richmond (not sure where at this point, either Henrico or Chesterfield), and have heard great things about the public schools in both counties. However, since our children currently attend Catholic school in Cincinnati, we are leaning towards enrolling them in Catholic school once we move. We would like to know more about the Catholic schools in the Richmond area.

In Cincinnati there is a very large Catholic population. As a result, there are a many schools within the diocese and there is a large student enrollment. The Catholic schools here are traditionally viewed as being some of the better schools in the city. Typically, most of the students at any given school come from within the parish. We understand that Richmond is not largely Catholic like Cincinnati. We are curious as to whether the Catholic schools in Richmond have a reputation for strong academics and whether the students generally come from Catholic families from within the parish (or do they primarily come from within the city to avoid city schools, or from areas outside the parish).

We have heard good things about several schools, such as St. Bridget's. We would appreciate any information about the quality and make-up of the Catholic schools in the Richmond area.

St. Edwards , St. Bridgets and St. Benedicts are k-8 and then the upper schools options are Blessed Sacrament, St. Gertrude's and Benedictine...

Not sure if I left anything out... good luck!

Check out St. Mary's on Gayton Road in the far West End. I went there from 1975-84 and it was good back then. I here it has improved even more since then. Good luck with your search.
